Got an open USB port not running a drive, scanner, printer, lamp, or fan? Hack your beverage's temperature with Sanwa's new USB-powered hot/cold plate. At a room temperature of 26° C, the USB-TOY42 will keep a cold drink at 15° C or a hot one at 40° C - either one the opposite end of lukewarm, perhaps, but late-night coders aren't known to be too picky. The flick of a switch lets you choose between iced coffee or hot (er, cool coffee or warm, that is).
Sanwa notes that its solid-state active Peltier heat pump uses no enviro-unfriendly fluorobarbons. Made for cans or heat-conducting metal cups; no plastic PET bottles, please, says the maker.
